SPERAFICO EARNS CAREER BEST CHAMP CAR FINISH IN HVM DEBUT
BJORN WIRDHEIM, #4 HVM/Lola/Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone
Bjorn on the Race:
"I was careful in the first and third turn at the start because I knew I would have a fast race pace and I wanted to make sure I would have the chance to use it! I got through without losing position, we ran strong in the race, in the top-ten and I was able pass people and keep up with Sebastien. The stops went well and unfortunately in the first caution, I think I picked up some dirt on my tires and I gained massive understeer. I went into turn eight and I couldn't turn the car, unfortunately I touched the wall and that was it. I am sorry for my team and the fans that I represented with their names on my car. I really wanted to give them a great finish."
ALEX SPERAFICO, #55 HVM/Lola/Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone
Alex on the Race:
"My goal today, no matter what, was to finish the race. I wanted to make sure that I didn't make any mistakes and to guarantee that I would be there at the end. I think because of that, I may have been a little too cautious at times, but I am happy to have finished in the top-ten. This team is very good and it gives me a lot more confidence knowing I have such talent behind me. The stops were great today, the race was tough at time because it was so busy, especially at the end, but I think we are all happy with the result. I had a great car and I am looking forward to the next event, in fact I cannot wait to get to Edmonton."
