Mario Dominguez - Driver, Car 55
"That had to be the worst race of the season for us - even though we managed to bring home a 12th place finish and a point! At the beginning of the race I was having a lot of problems with the tires which was unfortunate because I had made up some spots on the start and the car was running well. Then I made a mistake and I spun the car around and damaged the rear wing. I came in and got that changed and then Jimmy (Vasser) hit me and I had to come in again to get the front wing changed. The mechanics did a great job in making those changes for me very quickly. At the end of the race, once there was more rubber down on the track, the car was great and I was able to put in some very fast laps. Unfortunately at that point I was already too far down and couldn't make any more positions. I also want to say that I'm very happy for my teammate Roberto Moreno - he had a very good race today."
Roberto Moreno - Driver, Car 4
"I think a lot of us had cars that could have gone faster on a clear track but it's very hard to pass here so you have to be a bit careful. Bourdais made some mistakes on cold tires and I tried to stay close and put some pressure on him but when I tried to pass he chopped me off. Toward the end of the race I was having some problems with the front brakes - they were fading and I was locking up the rears. It's very difficult to handle the car in those conditions. I got them working again but it took awhile. I'm really happy today - not so much because of the sixth place but because of what it shows about this team. The Lola was new to me this year. My engineer Chris Gorne is new to CART. It's been a huge learning process it's been for us - people don't even realize how much progress we are making. Keith Wiggins has hired good people, put them in the right place and is letting them do their jobs and we're improving very fast. That is what makes me most happy today. And of course, it's nice to be back in the points!"
After a weekend scattered showers and cool temperatures, race day dawned sunny, warm and dry. Irregardless, the Canadian crowd came out in droves - organizers announced a three-day crowd of over 167,000 - with over 73,000 today.
Despite finishing three laps down, Dominguez posted the fourth fastest lap time of the race at 1:00.704 (104.079 mph/ 167.498 kph).
Moreno's sixth place finish was his best since round two in Monterrey, Mexico (also sixth). With Jimmy Vasser finishing just out of the points in 13th, Moreno gained a spot in the championship and is now 12th.
