Multi-Year Sponsorship Agreement Announced for Champ Car World Series Event Taking Place April 11-13
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Feb. 4, 2003) - Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach officials today announced that Tecate, the fourth largest import beer in the U.S., has been named the Official Import Beer of the crown jewel of the Champ Car World Series, which will take place this year April 11-13.
The multi-year sponsorship agreement allows Tecate to benefit from both on- and off-track exposure including pouring rights at the event. Just as importantly, Tecate's on-track marketing package will allow for national and international media exposure via the television broadcast of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
"The sponsorship could not have come at a better time as more and more Mexican-Americans have come to appreciate the sport of open-wheel racing," said Andres Siefken, Senior Brand Manager - Mexican Brands, Labatt USA. "Southern California is a key growth market for Tecate and we want to continue to build upon the success we've had with this diverse consumer base. This partnership reinforces Tecate's commitment to its number-one market."
Tecate is a sponsor of Champ Car driver Adrián Fernández' #51 Champ Car.
"We are proud to welcome Tecate into our family of sponsors," said Jim Michaelian, president and CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach. "The presence of Adrián Fernández at the Champ Car race in Long Beach has attracted a large Hispanic following and his association with Tecate helps to reinforce that presence. We look forward to a strong sponsorship and promotional relationship with Tecate."
Ticket prices for the three-day Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach range from $40 for a Sunday-only general admission ticket to $108 for a three-day ticket that includes Saturday and Sunday reserved seating in upper levels of the grandstands. Pre-paid parking packages are available and can be purchased when ordering tickets through the Grand Prix ticket office.
Credit card orders for the 2003 event can be placed by calling the ticket hotline toll-free at (888) 82-SPEED. Copies of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach ticket brochure can also be obtained by calling the ticket hotline.
