LAUSITZ, GERMANY . . . Team Rahal's drivers Kenny Brack and Max Papis captured the first one-two finish in team history at The American Memorial at EuroSpeedway in Germany. Brack led 82 laps, including the last 12 of the race, en route to capturing his fourth CART win of the 2001 season. Brack also reclaimed the lead in the CART championship by sweeping all available 21 points for the race. Brack leads defending CART champion Gil de Ferran by 11 points (131-120) heading into the next CART event in England.

The race, which was run under emotional conditions as CART honored the victims of the terrorist attack in America, ended with the final 13 laps run under yellow after a serious crash involving Alex Zanardi and Alex Tagliani. Both drivers were taken to a Berlin hospital for further treatment.

"We dedicate this race to all of the victims and their families in the United States," said Scott Roembke, Team Rahal's Chief Operating Officer. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them and with the drivers who were injured during the race."
