Sebring, FL (February 25 2000) Gil de Ferran was part of a nine-car test session on March 22-23 in Sebring, FL. This was the second road test for de Ferran as a Marlboro Team Penske driver, and he adjusted well, turning a 50.4 second lap on the 1.67-mile road course on the first day of testing and improving to a lap oil 50.3 seconds on the second day,

Gil de Ferran and Helio Castro-Neves will head to Homestead-Miami Speedway March 6-7 to prepare for the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami. Castro-Neves will test on March 6 and de Ferran will test on March 7.

The tests allowed Marlboro Team Penske to practice for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach by trying several different set-ups in preparation for the famed Los Angeles street course.

"This was only my second test on a road course this season, so I'm very pleased with the results," said de Ferran. "The Team and I made some solid progress over the past two days, We battled the rain a bit on the second day, but were still able to improve our time, even though the rain slowed the track down. Each time we test we work better together."

"This was our best test session yet," commented Tim Cindric. "We were able to run the- fastest time on the track to date using the harder version of the Firestone tires. Most of the top CART teams were in attendance and !its very satisfying to know that we've set the pace over the past few days. We were able to try several different set-ups, which really helped us prepare for Long Beach. I'm very pleased with our results."

While most people would be relaxing on their days off, Gil de Ferran is constantly training to be in the best physical condition possible. Last Saturday, Gil completed a 5K run in Bow Raton, FL posting a time of 22 minutes. Running has become not only a great way to stay in shape, but a chance to spend time with his wife doing something they both enjoy, In fact, it was Angela who got Gil to make running one of his primary forms of training. He would go on runs with her to spend time tog-ether and eventually discovered that running was an optimal way to stay in shape on his off days.

One month from today, the stars of the 2000 CART FedEx Championship Series will be qualifying at Homestead-Miami Speedway in preparation for the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami on March 26.

On Thursday, March 23 Marlboro Team Penske will host a press conference at Monty's Stone Crab in Miami Beach featuring defending CART Champion Juan Montoya and CART drivers Gil de Ferran, Helio Castro-Neves, Mauricio Gugelmin, Kenny Brack, Roberto Moreno and Oriol Servia.
