"Today was an up and down day. We had a problem in the beginning of the morning practice session with the valve. The whole situation is upsetting given we are down about five miles per hour on the straights. We need to work really hard to get the most out of the car. This afternoon, the Marlboro car was well balanced and worked well through the corners. I can only imagine what our time would have been if we had full horsepower. Everyone is going to work hard to improve their times so we need to continue our work tonight. This is a great course and I really enjoy driving it."

"We've always been competitive here at Portland. But under the current circumstances, we are clearly struggling. I was trying to set the car up neutral, but, being down on power, I had no choice but to drive as hard as I could. So today we struggled with lots of oversteer, and that's why I spun the car three times during the afternoon practice session. We did make some improvements from the morning session, which was good. But because I spun off the track in turn one with about eight minutes before the end of the second practice session, I was never able to put on new tires. We'll make some adjustments tonight and hopefully the Marlboro car will be in good shape for tomorrow's qualifying."
