TEAM KOOL GREEN IN HOUSTON

WHAT: Texaco/Havoline GP - Round 18 of 20 in the CART FedEx Championship Series

WHEN: September 24 - 26

WHERE: Houston, Texas

PAUL TRACY, #26 Team KOOL Green Honda/Reynard/Firestone: (Started 4th / Finished 20th at Houston in 1998 ; 3rd in the PPG Cup standings with 134 points)

"What a difference a year makes! Team KOOL Green is stronger than ever with a great shot of winning most weekends. Thanks to a solid team effort all season long, Dario is second and I'm third in the championship. We're the dominant team on street courses, which certainly gives us a lot of confidence going into Houston. Dario and I have run real close on the streets this year [finishing 1-2 at Toronto & Detroit], but we'll try to avoid getting as close in Houston as we did last season!

"Everybody remembers how Dario and I made contact. We're both fierce competitors and neither of us wanted to give ground that day. It was a mistake and an unfortunate thing to have happened."

DARIO FRANCHITTI , #27 Team KOOL Green Honda/Reynard/Firestone: (Started 2nd / Finished 1st at Houston in 1998 ; 2nd in the PPG Cup standings with 171 points)

"We're running out of time to catch Juan [Montoya leads the championship, 199 to 171]. Obviously, we have to have a great race in Houston again this year. At this point, we also need Juan to experience some gremlins or a hiccup if we're going to stay in the hunt for the championship. Team KOOL Green will play its part. We've run really well on the street circuits this season [victories in Toronto & Detroit].

"Last year's victory in Houston brings back a lot of great memories. The fans were incredible, staying to the very end in all that wet weather. It was a very interesting race, to say the least. The incident with the two KOOL cars touching stirred it up a bit, but there's no problem between Paul and myself. The fact is we have equally fast cars and we are both capable of winning. It's only natural that at some point in a race, we'll find ourselves trying to pass each other. We just need to use our heads in doing it."

KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship

ALEX GURNEY, #27 Team KOOL Green Toyota/Swift: (13th in standings with 30 points)

"It's the last race of the year, so obviously we want to end the season on a high note. We qualified really well at the last street race in Vancouver [6th], so the team is looking to do at least as well in Houston. The season has been full of ups and downs and with hindsight you can always look back to what you could have done better. I think I learned a lot and hopefully I can take what I learned to win some races next year. My team manager Bill Fickling and the Team KOOL Green guys have been very supportive throughout the season. We've always been knocking on the door, trying to get into the fight with some of the veteran drivers of the series. We'll be in the thick of it again this weekend, aiming to finish the season on the podium."
