TEAM KOOL GREEN AT THE GRAND PRIX OF MIAMI

WHAT: Grand Prix of Miami - Round 1 of 20 CART FedEx Championship Series

WHEN: March 24-26 ERE: Homestead-Miami Speedway

DARIO FRANCHITTI, #27 TEAM KOOL GREEN HONDA/REYNARD/FIRESTONE: (Started 7th / Finished 3rd at Homestead in '99 ; 2nd overall with 212 points in '99)

"It's time to get down to business. Because of my injuries from Spring Training and the resulting lack of test time, I've got some ground to make up on the other contenders. Fortunately, Paul (Tracy) and the rest of Team KOOL Green have been working their bums off getting ready for the season. It's a great feeling to be able to -- for the most part -- just get in the car and start working as a team to make the car better and go faster.

"I've stayed in pretty good shape in spite of my injuries, so I'm not expecting to have any unusual physical difficulties. And because I've stayed so focused on doing everything I can to be ready to race at Homestead, I think I've kept my mind sharp. It's amazing how focused you can get on something you want so bad."

PAUL TRACY, #26 TEAM KOOL GREEN HONDA/REYNARD/FIRESTONE: (Suspended from '99 season-opener for rough driving at Australia in '98 ; 3rd overall with 161 points in '99)

"I've been doing most of the testing for Team KOOL Green this year, especially since Dario's accident at Spring Training, and I think we're in decent shape. I'm anxious to get out there and go wheel-to-wheel to see where we stack up with everyone else. You know what they say, when the green flag drops_

"Everybody at Team KOOL Green feels ready to go after the championship. We were strong last year, we haven't made any major changes and our pre-season testing has only made us faster and more reliable. We're expecting to do well and be in the top-five from the first race to the last. If we can do that, and stay on the right side with the racing gods, there's no reason we can't earn a championship."

On the new Handford Device MK II being used at Homestead: "The new wing package we've got for Homestead should allow for some close racing and a lot more passing than we've seen in recent years. It's certainly going to be a lot more fun for the drivers, and I'm sure it will make for a better race for the fans."

BARRY GREEN, TEAM KOOL GREEN OWNER:

"I'm really proud of the way everyone on Team KOOL Green has handled the off-season. I'm not just talking about our drivers, who obviously want to be champions, but our engineers, mechanics and shop-based people all have stepped it up another notch. They know we were close last year, and they don't want to be denied this time.

"I can't say enough about our two drivers. Paul has shouldered the brunt of testing this year. And though we would have liked for Dario to get more seat time, Paul likes to test and we like having him test. He's always been a good test driver, but over the last year he's gotten even better at developing the car. Dario will have a good car for Homestead."
