Rodolfo Lavin (R), #5 Corona Competition Team Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone
"I think this is the best street circuit on the Champ Car schedule. First it's set in beautiful Australia, it's pretty wide compared to most street courses and has a couple long straights. The chicanes, especially on the curbs, are extremely challenging. You have to put the tires in just the right place; it's very technical and precise. The Corona car was nearly two seconds quicker this afternoon than it was this morning, so we definitely made some gains, but so did everyone else. The brakes are soft and I'm still battling understeer. We just needed more laps to keep getting the car right."
Will mark his 18th Champ Car start and first trip to Australia, Earned Champ Car career-best start of eighth at Germany (11 May) and career-best finish of eighth at Vancouver (27 July)
Darren Manning, (R), #15 RAC Walker Racing Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone
"The chicanes are brutal! I have full lock through there I have so much understeer. We just can't seem to see our way through the problem. It's going to be a particularly difficult race tomorrow, especially starting from 14th. I just have to stay focused on finishing the race -- staying out of trouble, hopefully pick some spots up in the pits - and continue picking up points."
