Tagliani finishes seventh in the Lexmark Indy 300, Surfers Paradise, Australia

Queensland, Australia -- Rocketsports driver, Alex Tagliani, finished seventh in the 13th annual Lexmark Indy 300 in Surfers Paradise, Australia. The No. 33 Johnson Controls Lola was in fourth position on the starting grid and qualified with a time of 1:32.135 (109.209 mph, 176.144 km/h). This was Tagliani's best Australian start and the 77th of his Champ Car career. Tagliani has earnedeight top-five starts and 11 top-ten finishes this season for the first year Rocketsports team. J

Though slightly disappointed with today's finish Tagliani remains in the top-ten with 97 championship points. "We had the car and strategy to win. The Rocketsports team did a great job all weekend. The spin in turn one, with 16 laps to go, cost me some positions. I was looking for better than seventh, but another top-ten finish is good for the team."

Tagliani is now tenth in the Champ Car World Series point standings. In his four year Champ Car career, he has earned eight podiums, 15 top-five finishes and 39 top-ten finishes. Tagliani finished a career-best eighth in the 2002 Champ Car World Series with 111 points.

Look for Tagliani next in the final race of the 2003 Champ Car World Series, the King Taco 500, at California Speedway on Sunday, November 2, 2003.
