Clarke Has Momentum over Power for Rookie Points Chase

An Accomplished Rookie: Dan Clarke's list of achievements for his rookie season in the Champ Car World Series is expanding. Clarke has finished in the top-six in the last three races and is the only rookie of the 2006 class to accomplish a podium finish (3rd -- Denver) and a pole position (Road America).

The ROY Chase: Clarke sits just seven points behind Australian Will Power in the Roshfrans Rookie of the Year Battle. If it is up to Clarke, he won't sit there for long. The British Rookie has earned 70 championship points in the last three races and topped the Rookie class at each of those events.

The Points Puzzle: Just 16 points separates fourth through tenth in the series championship points standings and Clarke is in the thick of the battle. He broke into the top-ten in the standings with his pole position at Road America, he is ranked 10th with 168 points, just nine points out of sixth! With only two races left in the 2006 season, the pieces of the championship puzzle will fall into place this weekend in Australia.

CTE HVM Success: The Surfers Paradise circuit has brought plenty of pleasant memories to the HVM team, including their first Champ Car victory in 2002 and a podium in 2004, both with former HVM driver Mario Dominguez.

Dan Clarke: "It's been too long since I've been in the car -- I've turned 23 now (and had a great time celebrating!). I've not been 'down under' before, so it's all a new experience for me. I think there's quite a few fun activities lined up for our visit, which will be good experiences, but my focus will be on the race and the team. We've had a run of strong results and we need to stay strong and add to this, to finish the season on a high. We've been growing as a team and it's a tight unit now, so we have the ability to be a front-runner. There's lots to play for still -- I'm in the Rookie of the Year title chase, and I'm not too many points off Nelson, so we need to come home top five this weekend in Oz."
