Papis Keeps Improving Times and Speed in Final Day of Testing at Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif. - Max Papis said Saturday's first full day of testing was a good beginning and his thought remained the same after the second and final day of CART's Sneak Preview.

Papis, of Como, Italy, who now makes his home in Miami, improved on his Saturday time by nearly a full second, recording a fast lap of 70.312 seconds, for a top speed of 114.586 mph. Papis said he encountered some set up difficulties, but not enough to hinder the team's efforts.

Papis and the Sigma Autosport team test later this month before the first race of the season at Monterrey, Mexico on March 10.

Quotes

"We made some improvements this morning. We were up there and we went quite fast. It was much like yesterday (Saturday) where we kept making improvements with the car and with our times. We got a bit lost in the set up and we'll have to go back and look at the situation, but overall I would say it was a good day and if we keep on making progress, we'll be okay. I'm looking forward to doing some testing and getting acquainted with everybody and most important, I'm ready to race in Mexico." - Max Papis, Sigma Autosport Driver
