Motorola 300 - Round #7 The Milwaukee Mile, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Shigeaki Hattori - #16 Mercedes-Benz/Reynard/Goodyear
Practice #1: 23.596 seconds 157.450 mph average Practice #2: 24.593 seconds 151.067 mph average
EPSON Bettenhausen Motorsports driver Shigeaki Hattori completed 87 laps during today's first two practice sessions for the Miller Lite 225, round 7 of the CART FedEx Championship Series. The historic Milwaukee Mile, inside the grounds of the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, holds the record for being the world's oldest paved oval track.
The team was delayed in starting the morning session due to a problem with a malfunctioning fuel pump. The afternoon session, which normally runs with the field split into two 45-minute sessions, was run as a combined session of approximately 48 minutes due to afternoon rain showers. The team was pleased with Shigeaki's progress during the morning session but he was unable to improve during the afternoon.
Tom Brown - Managing Director and Chief Engineer Shigeaki has a very big learning curve to attack this weekend. But he's getting down to it and learning very quickly. We need every possible lap we can get out there so the mechanical delay this morning and the changing weather conditions this afternoon hurt us a bit.
Shigeaki Hattori This track is very different from the other oval tracks we've raced on so far this year because it is so flat. With no testing here, we are testing at the same time as practice, which makes it very hard. We'll work hard tonight to find more speed for tomorrow.
