Michigan Memories: In 1999 Servià qualified his lights machine in third position. He finished the race in fifth with a damaged front wing. Servià started 17th and finished an impressive fifth in 1998.
500 Mile Debut: Champ Car rookie and reigning Indy Lights champion Oriol Servià will make his 500-mile debut this weekend. Servià has achieved four top ten finishes thus far this season, including a visit to the podium in Detroit, where he finished third.
Going for it: Servià took advantage of the first lap incident in Toronto, moving from eleventh to eighth position. Servià had his eye on the podium in Toronto, as the rookie passed Tracey and was going for Fernandez and fourth position, setting the fastest laps of the race. Unfortunately he was unable to prevail on the Fernandez pass, but he did fine job displaying his aggressive and competitive driving style. Looking Forward to Europe: Servià is looking forward to racing in Europe next season, as he is currently one of four European drivers in the CART FedEx series. Servià's primary sponsor Telefónica is headquartered in Madrid, Spain.
Servià on Michigan:
"I have been enjoying the momentum we have had lately on road courses so much, that I am a little concerned about getting back into the oval swing of things. It will be fine, I really like the Michigan track, and I think it is one of the best ovals we race on. I tested here last month and it wasn't great, but I think we have found some very good developments since then, so I look forward to good results. I must earn some more points this weekend. I am sixteenth in points right now, and third in the rookie chase. That is not where I want to be. The team has been working very, very hard this week to get the car turned around for the super speedway, and I have been working hard mentally to make sure I am ready for a 500-mile race. Together, I think we will do very well."
