RuSPORT enters round nine of the 2006 Champ Car World Series on a mission to keep their momentum rolling after last weekend's victory at the Edmonton Grand Prix by Justin Wilson and his CDW Car No. 9 team.

After his victory in Edmonton, Wilson moved back into second place in the 2006 Champ Car driver's championship, just 23 points behind the leader, Sebastien Bourdais. This marks the first time that both Wilson and RuSPORT have been so close to the top of the championship standings this late in a Champ Car season. Wilson's teammate, Cristiano da Matta, currently sits in tenth place in the championship, after last weekend's disappointing 18th-place finish that was the result of a turn-one crash in Edmonton.

Wilson's win in Edmonton was his fifth podium finish in eight Champ Car events, this year. He also finished on the podium at Long Beach, Monterrey, Milwaukee and Portland.

Last year in San Jose qualifying, the Bridgestone Pole Award was captured by Bourdais with a time of 54.243 seconds. Wilson qualified ninth, and da Matta qualified 13th. In the race itself, Wilson finished in fourth position, while da Matta crossed the finish line in tenth.
