Heylen Will Start in 13th position for Sunday's San Jose Grand Prix at Redback Raceway

In today's final qualifying session, the lap times were hard won with only tenths of a second separating most of the field. Jan Heylen (#34 Champ Car Grand Prix of Belgium / Cosworth / DP01 / Bridgestone) was able to make two seven lap runs during the session and ran both of them on the Bridgestone 'Reds' that seemed to be preferred by most of the field to give added grip for the tricky street course. With only minor red flags during the qualifying, Heylen finished 13th and will be looking to move up through the field with the goal of adding another top-ten finish for the Conquest Racing team.

"We were really hoping for a top ten after our ninth place in the practice session this morning and the tenth place in the warm up just prior to the qualifying session," said Heylen. "This is an incredibly close field. Our car seems to be running well but we just missed a couple of tenths of a second which obviously makes a big difference. There were quite a lot of incidents during practice and qualifying so we'll be focusing on a consistent race tomorrow and staying out of any trouble."
