Michel Jourdain Jr., #9
Although Michel Jourdain Jr. improved his qualifying time over his provisional qualifying effort on Friday, Jourdain will start just outside the top-ten for Sunday's Grand Prix of Road America. A red flag in the closing minutes of today's qualifying marked an end to the continuous move up the timesheets for the # 9 Gigante car.
Michel Jourdain Jr.
"The red flag (for Paul Tracy) affected us again, like in Vancouver. I only had the opportunity to put together two laps each time we went out, so I think we didn't get a chance to show how good the car had the potential to be for qualifying. This is a race track that gives you a lot of room to pass, and with several drivers making mistakes, I think tomorrow we have the chance for a really good race."
Jeremy Dale, Team President
"In reality we should probably have the fourth row all to ourselves because I believe that Michel had the speed to get up there. We got a little upside down with the red flag at the end there. We have a better race car than we were able to show in qualifying today, so we're feeling pretty good heading into tomorrow. Also, at the rate everyone is making mistakes and going off the track this weekend, we should be able to have some good results if we drive a smart race."
