Michel Jourdain Jr., #9
The Grand Prix of Road America turned into a timed event today as a result of multiple cautionary periods. The yellow flags resulted in a race of strategy to meet the three 'green' pit stop requirements-a race that the #9 Gigante crew just missed. Michel Jourdain Jr. nonetheless stayed in hunt and ran a clean race to bring home his third top-ten finish. Jourdain's effort today also keeps him in the top-ten in the Driver's Championship.
Michel Jourdain Jr.
"It's a shame today went the way it did because we had a good race car. I had a good start and felt good settling into the race. But what it comes down to is that unfortunately there were a lot of yellows and our strategy was just not the right one for how the flags fell today to get in our pit stops under green conditions. As always, we are a new team and we will learn from this and move on."
Jeremy Dale, Team President
"The early part of the race today was good for Michel. He had a good start and gained positions. We just really got caught out by the way the yellows fell-and how many there were. We tried a different strategy than most of the cars out there, but it just didn't match. We're actually lucky to come away with ninth under the circumstances. We'll take this and move forward to Denver next week."
