CHAMPCAR/CART: Road America: Race day quoteboard

Sebastien Bourdais #1 McDonalds Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 1st/Finished 1st)

"It is obviously one of the best weekends for us this season. The McDonald's car was great from the beginning when we unloaded to the end. It was quick, we made a few changes and it seemed that it was hard to drive but super quick. With two great qualifying runs on Friday and Saturday, and to dominate today it seems the team has been a little greedy. I fought understeer during the first stint, it started out OK and then got really loose for the second half of the stint. It was just really difficult with the red option tires, I really struggled. When we put the black sided Bridgestone tires on, then the car got back to normal, so we could push and save fuel. From there it was a pretty smooth ride. It was a great team win."

Dan Clarke #4 Minardi Team USA Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 8th/Finished 2nd)

"I am really happy with my second place finish, it is the best of my career. What a track to do it at, Road America is a real driver's racing circuit. In a few days I will be traveling back to the UK, not only to race, but to also see my family and friends, so it is a great result to go back with. Our luck has seemed to have changed finally, so I really have to say thank you to my team, not only for having an amazing car today, but for tweaking it during the pit stops. The car was great, I could really drive it especially in the first stint. Also thank you to my team for persevering, we have had so many chances to have podium finishes, but things did not go our way. Now that we finally have a podium this season, I have a feeling that luck will really be on our side."

Graham Rahal #2 Medi | Zone Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 4th/Finished 3rd)

"It was a great day for the whole Medi|Zone team. We certainly had a lot of pace today and if it wasn't for us having to save fuel during that last run, I think we would have had something, if not Sebastien, but for sure Dan. I certainly think this team is on the rise and that we can have a good end to our season."

Oriol Servia #7 INDECK Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 14th/Finished 4th)

"I would be happier if I would've been on the podium, actually I think we should've been but we had some radio problems in one of the restarts and I lost some positions. I liked the improvements we made on the car throughout the weekend. We had problems in qualifying so we started at the back but we were able to make a lot of on track passes and we also managed to turn one of the fastest laps of the race. So we've shown that we have a good car for the road courses, we have a couple more coming up in Europe so I think that we are going to be very strong and fighting for victories."

Alex Tagliani #8 RSPORTS Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 6th/Finished 5th)

"It was a good team effort today. I had good pit stops and we did all that we could out there. I think that we had the car that probably could have been in the top three, but some guys went out of sequence early and with the way the race went, it gave them the advantage. That is just part of the game, you never can tell when it will be a good thing to do that, or a bad thing. We realize now, with a top five again, that the last two races were definitely painful to digest because they just took us out of the top three in the championship. So we just have to keep working hard and I am pretty sure that we can get back in the top five of the championship standings before the end of the season, which is our goal."

Jan Heylen #34 Grafiprint Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 9h/Finished 6th)

"Today's sixth place finish better reflects our abilities as a team and where we deserved to be this weekend. The team did an incredible job with our fuel strategy; Don Bricker, the team engineer, was able to tell me exactly what to do and what was needed so we could end up with the perfect amount of fuel. In the end, we gained three positions overall in the race and were able to pass both of the PKV cars using strategy and fuel. The #34 car is looking good with the new green and white Grafiprint livery and we are excited to be showing it off at the Circuit Zolder in two weeks. The entire team seemed to work well today and we seem to have a good, cohesive team that is going to Zolder. This is a great result to have right before the Champ Car Grand Prix of Belgium race; the team will be busy this week preparing for the European swing so it helps to have high spirits prior to our departure. We will be looking to continue our top-six pace for the rest of the season."

Justin Wilson #9 CDW Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 10th /Finished 8th)

"I really would have liked to have done better for CDW and all our partners. We had a piece of body work come loose in the race, which did not help us at all. The #9 CDW crew pushed through it and we were able to continue on. My crew gave me some good stops and we had a reasonable race strategy, but that was not enough to have a better result this afternoon. We will take what points we were able to collect and go on to Europe."

Bruno Junqueira #19 Sonny's Bar-B-Q Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 5th/Finished 9th)

"We had a great starting position today starting in fifth. I'm very disappointed with Champ Car's decision to penalize me for jumping the re-start at the beginning of the race. I left at the same time Sebastien Bourdais did so I don't know why he wasn't penalized also. I may have been creeping a little before the start, but so was everyone else. Graham Rahal and Will Power got off to a horrible start, which made me look like I really jumped the start of the race. Will almost stall his car. This is the first time in my Champ Car career that I have ever been penalized so I'm very disappointed to have it happen. We had a second place car today and it is shame that we weren't able to show it."

Simon Pagenaud #15 Aussie Vineyards Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 12th, Finished 11th)

"Well the launch itself, everyone jumped the start as usual and I don't know what to say about that. Coming into turn five I was on the inside and I didn't overshoot the braking there and someone turned on me, grabbed my wheel and I went in the air. We had a little hope, but the race was officially over when I came into the pits and unfortunately I stalled the Aussie Vineyards car twice and I don't know why. From that point on I drove, but the car was fun to drive and felt great, I have to thank the whole team for giving me a great car. We just didn't have the best luck for the race, that's just the way it is. We were fast and that is probably the most important thing."

Paul Tracy #3 INDECK Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 16th/Finished 12th)

"It was just one of those races where I got hit at the start and the car was damaged, so we basically struggled around the whole race and just had to hold on and pick up some points. We really weren't a factor to do anything today, we just had to stay on the track and finish."

Alex Figge #29 Pacific Coast Motorsports Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone

"I think it was a reasonable finish, we ran a lot of strong laps out there. We got off the reds early which forced a bit of a change in our strategy a little. The last two sets I had were a bit worn, so I need to work on tire conservation. When we tie it all together, I think we put together a top-ten. It was a long day today, but I feel pretty good about it."

Robert Doornbos #14 Team Minardi USA Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 3rd/Finished 14th)

"I was really happy with my start today, and I felt we could keep up with Sebastien and go for the race win. Our second stint on used tires was not so competitive, and Rahal got around me fairly easily. I knew I could get him back so I wasn't too worried about it, but then my team mate got around me and braked in front of me going into turn five, and I lost all the down force on my car and took off the wing. It's unfortunate that we lost points in the Championship today, I would have been happy with a podium, but I'm looking forward to going home and racing in Europe."

Katherine Legge #11 Dale Coyne Racing Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 17th/Finished 15th)

"This is the second time I've been really lucky here at Road America. It must be the pink car. Maybe I will have to bring another color car here next year. We spent most of the race trying to eliminate issues that were giving us problems on the car so that we can be ready for Europe in two weeks. When we came in for our last stop the fuel cell in the car split and that is what cause the fire in the engine. All I heard was get out of the car and I unbuckled and got the heck out. When I got out to a safe area that is when the fire really intensified. I'm ok and I'm so glad that everyone on my crew was alright too. I can't wait to go to Belgium and Holland for our next two races."

Will Power #5 Aussie Vineyards Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 2nd/Finished 16th)

"I think just off the start line it didn't go into gear and I got a neutral and lost a couple of spots there and really struggled on the red tires, the car was basically impossible to drive for us, so we pitted early and went out of sequence and then when we put the blacks on and it was completely opposite handling wise and then they were really good. Halfway through the second stop the car kept getting stuck in fourth gear and something broke in the gearbox and jammed up. There was nothing we could do from there. We go on to Europe and work on getting two really good podiums. The Team Australia guys did a great job and we will keep on soldering on, the season is not over yet."

Ryan Dalziel #28 Pacific Coast Motorsports Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 13th/Finished 17th)

"I am obviously disappointed but at the same time I am just happy to be here. I felt great in the car and I think we had a solid finish ahead of us. Unfortunately we had a failure with the fuel pump during our first stop which was a shame. As soon as I hit the pitlane speed limiter, the car just died and despite the great efforts of my team, we were not able to get it going again. Regarding the first lap incident, I think it was actually Simone's fault and I don't think Tracy deserved a drive through, he really had no where to go. We had a great run going and I am happy for that."
