Sebastien Bourdais Leads The First Day of Champ Car Testing at Road America

Elkhart Lake, Wis. (August 4, 2006) The familiar roar of the 750-horsepower Ford-Cosworth turbocharged engines returned to peaceful Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin as the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series concluded the first of two days of testing at the historic 4.048-mile road course located in the Kettle Moraine region of Wisconsin.

Sebastien Bourdais (#1 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) led the first day of testing with a lap of 1:43.669 (140.570 mph) as 12 cars took to the track under clear skies with temperatures hovering in the high seventies.

A.J. Allmendinger (#7 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) was second fastest with a lap of 1:44.499 (139.454 mph) while Cristiano da Matta (#10 RuSPORT Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) was third quickest before striking a deer between Turns 5 and 6. The remainder of the day's testing session was cancelled following the incident.

Champ Car testing continues today at Road America in preparation for the September 24 Grand Prix of Road America.
