One "Last Ride" To The Podium?

Bobby Rahal

(July 15, 1998) -- Rahal won the inaugural FedEx Championship Series event held at Toronto in 1986 and has added six podium finishes at Exhibition Place in the 11 events since, including runner-up efforts in 1992, '94 and '95 and thirds in '87, '91 and '96. Now in the last half of his final season as a FedEx Championship Series driver, dubbed "Rahal's Last Ride," Rahal would like to close his career at Toronto with one last podium performance.

"The Toronto race has been special to me, as has racing in Canada," he said. "I started my racing [career] near Toronto, and winning the inaugural race there is something I'll never forget. In recent years, we've had cars capable of winning also, but the breaks haven't fallen our way. I think we'll have another strong car this year and I'd sure like to win my last Toronto race."

Rahal will participate in a celebrity bartender night, along with teammate Bryan Herta (Shell Reynard Ford) and future baseball Hall-of-Famer Robin Yount on Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peel Pub, 276 King Street West in Toronto.
