. The RuSPORT team heads into this weekend's G.I. Joe Presents the Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland after a very strong showing at the last stop on the schedule in Milwaukee, WI. Reigning Roshfrans Rookie of the Year A.J. Allmendinger garnered his first front-row start of the season there and collected his career-best Champ Car finish with a 2nd- place. Teammate Justin Wilson continued his charge and the duo just missed an all-RuSPORT front row as he qualified 3rd. Wilson went on to collect his third consecutive 4th-place finish.
. Both Justin and A.J. enjoy the Portland International Raceway. Last year, the pair gave the crowd some of the best on-track action of the season as opponents and chasing the coveted Roshfrans Rookie of the Year title. Wilson won the Portland fight last year, finishing 5th and one place ahead of Allmendinger. Now as teammates, expect the duo to continue the Milwaukee momentum and push each other to the podium.
. Justin's string of consistently strong drives this year, yielding three 4th-place finishes, has moved him up the points standing. Wilson currently sits 2nd in the Drivers Championship.
. Although A.J. did not get off to the 2005 season start he had planned, Allmendinger's focus and determination have given him valuable championship points. He, too, has jumped up the standings and is 5th- place overall heading into the Portland weekend.
. In celebration of Father's Day on race day, both A.J. and Justin will have their fathers in attendance and cheering them on to the checkers. Greg Allmendinger and Keith Wilson both think that much anticipated first Champ Car victory would be a great gift!
