Rocketsports back on the podium in Portland.
Another outstanding job by Alex Tagliani and the Rocketsports crew led to the second podium finish for the first year team in G. I. Joe's 200 at the Portland International Speedway. Tagliani started fifth and finished third today in the #33 Johnson Controls Lola, scooping his seventh career podium. Tagliani drove the 100 lap race on the 1.969 mile/3.169 km Portland track as aggressively as possible and secured 14 race points. This puts Tagliani in ninth position in the Champ Car World Series standings with 46 points overall.
Words from Tagliani
"Our success today was a real team effort. The Rocketsports crew did a great job and gave me great pit stops. I raced like I normally do with support from Paul (Gentilozzi) and Phil (Howard). My engineers gave me a great car. It took a while for the car to come to temperature, but it worked really well once it did, for such a fast-paced race. I wish I were even more aggressive from the get-go to move higher up the grid, but I am happy with our results today."
"I am glad we (the Rocketsports team) have had the start to the season we have had, and realized how competitive we can be. If we didn't have the troubles we had in Laguna, we wouldn't have looked so hard for ways to correct it and new ways to be quicker in the Lola. We found them for the race today and I believe we will become even more competitive. If we keep on knocking at the door like this, pretty soon we'll have our chance (at a first place finish)."
