Justin claims first Champ Car pole
Justin followed up his provisional pole position in Friday's qualifying, posting the fastest time in second qualifying in the #9 Intel car to claim his and RuSPORT's first Champ Car pole. Justin earns two championship points for setting the fastest time in both qualifying sessions. Team-mate A.J. Allmendinger retained 2nd spot, so RuSPORT will start Sunday's race with both cars on the front row of the grid for the first time in the Denver-based team's short Champ Car history. At the Green Flag on Sunday Justin and A.J. will be chased to the first corner by Paul Tracy and Alex Tagliani, with Sebastien Bourdais starting 5th. A great race is in prospect.
Justin is proud of the team's achievement and has high expectations for the race. "I think today, and all weekend really, shows what the RuSPORT team is capable of doing. We wanted to build on the momentum coming out of Milwaukee and we're doing that and I think it's great! An all RuSPORT front row, especially with such a young team, is something to be really proud of. Tomorrow I'm going to try and get to the first corner first and then have the patience to see how it unfolds, but a RuSPORT 1-2 in the victory circle would be nice!"
Carl Russo, Team Owner, echoed Justin's sentiments, adding: "Yesterday we started the deal and today we closed the deal on qualifying...Our first pole and our first 1-2 qualifying represents a great reward for a great effort by a great team of people."
