HVM Rookies Ready, Rain or Shine
HVM FAST FACTS:
Portland Native: HVM team member Vicki Gorman is a native of Portland. HVM's electronics specialist, Vicki fulfilled a lifelong dream when she joined the team last year after working in the computer software industry for nearly 15 years. During the pitstops, Vicki is a member of the #55 pitcrew, she is the "Deadman" she operates the fuel valve which controls the fuel flow to the fuel hose.
Front Runners: HVM drivers Bjorn Wirdheim and Ronnie Bremer may be rookies, but they are already comfortable leading Champ Car races. HVM cars have led each of the three races completed thus far in 2005, and are the only rookie drivers to have led races in 2005. Bjorn led a large portion of the Monterrey, Mexico event, while Ronnie led in Long Beach and Milwaukee.
BJORN WIRDHEIM, #4 HVM/Lola/Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone
Rookie Chase: The Roshfrans Rookie of the Year chase is heating up, Wirdheim is currently ranked fourth, but sits just 12 points out the lead. He has led more laps than any other rookie this season. BJORN WIRDHEIM: "I've never been to Portland, but after watching the video tapes from last year I can't wait to get there. It is a beautiful circuit and looks technical and a bit challenging, but those of course are my favorite types of track, so I can't wait to get on track Friday. They are calling for rain, but I don't mind, I have a lot of experience driving in the rain and I am sure Bridgestone with provide us with a fantastic, reliable rain tire."
RONNIE BREMER, #55 HVM/Lola/Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone
Top-Ten: Bremer has started and finished in the top-ten in two of the three completed Champ Car races this season RONNIE BREMER: "PIR is a nice circuit, I liked it last year in the Atlantic car, so I am sure I will love it this year in the Champ Car. I went second quickest in the first practice, it was my first ever session on that track last year. I am happy to be on a natural road course, I am sure we can do a good job there. Unfortunately we did not test there, but I am sure the team has a good car there anyway. If it does rain as they say it will this weekend, the fans are in for a good show. This is the type of track that we can still push it even if it is wet, it will make it exciting, that is for sure. This is one of the things that makes Champ Car special, a competitive show goes on, rain or shine."
