Lausitz, Germany, September 13, 2001 FedEx CART Championship officials announced Thursday that the series' first-ever race in Europe will be run as scheduled this Saturday on the EuroSpeedway super oval.

With rain disrupting the first practice sessions that were slated for Thursday, CART officials decided to cancel the qualifying session and, in accordance with Champ car regulations, establish the starting grid by the current order in the drivers' standings. The drivers will have the opportunity to get accustomed to the new 2-mile circuit during two practice sessions on Friday and the Saturday morning warmup prior to the start of the race at 1:30 p.m. (local time).

Team Player's drivers Patrick Carpentier and Alex Tagliani will be starting from the ninth and 13th positions respectively.

Racing fans can watch the race live on The Sports Network starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. They can also follow Team Player's progress in the practice sessions and the race by logging on to the team's website at www.teamplayers.ca

Results on the performance of Team Player's drivers in the practice sessions and the race will be sent out on a daily basis. CNW photos of Team Player's will also be transmitted daily on The Canadian Press wire.
