With qualifying rained out on Saturday, the Champ Car drivers were forced to start the race from their point's position in the championship. Dixon started eighth, with Gugelmin starting 22nd. Fuel conservation was the name of the game for Gugelmin, who battled his way through the field to finish a season-best 10th. Teammate Scott Dixon earned his second podium visit of his rookie campaign as his pit crew performed a couple of really quick stops, which helped Scott advance several positions through the field. Dixon tried to catch Andretti and Brack towards the end of the race, but got caught up in traffic and ended up finishing third - his second podium visit in the last three races.

SCOTT DIXON - # 18 POWERWARE PANASONIC PACWEST TOYOTA

Finishing Position: 3rd

"We had a good race overall," said Dixon. "My pit crew just did an excellent job on my two pit stops and we were able to gain some positions in the pits, which is always one of our goals. I didn't take on tires on my last stop, so we really put the Firestone tires to work today. Again, we really made good fuel out there, and thanks to my engineers for giving me an excellent car. We were hoping they didn't call the last yellow because I had plenty of fuel and wanted a chance to have another run with Michael and Kenny. We were strong enough with the Toyota Reynard package earning us more points towards the championship. My guy's just did a great job all weekend, and they deserve this."

MAURICIO GUGELMIN - # 17 NEXTEL PACWEST TOYOTA

Finishing Position: 10th

"I had to save fuel all day long in order to gather those much needed points," said Gugelmin. "We came up with a great race strategy and my Nextel pit crew really out did themselves with a couple of terrific pit stops. My car was not bad all day, and whatever adjustments I needed to make could be done by me in the cockpit. I'm really happy with a top-ten finish and the points. As long as we stay consistent for the remainder of the season, and keep collecting points at each event, we should find ourselves in a pretty good position at the end of the year."
