MAURICIO GUGELMIN - # 17 NEXTEL PACWEST TOYOTA
Position: 3rd Time: 1:09.514s Laps: 43 Speed: 115.902mph
"I don't think we've found anything special, specifically for this weekend, but I do think we have found things over the last two races that have helped us a lot," said Gugelmin. "Traditionally, we have done very well here with top-ten finishes in five of the last six years. The only time we haven't finished in the top-ten here, we had a mechanical failure on the car and did not finish the race. On this circuit, it is very important to have a good balance and we've found that today. The track is getting better each time out and my car is handling well. With that said, I think we will be strong for qualifying tomorrow."
SCOTT DIXON - # 18 NEXTEL POWERWARE PANASONIC PACWEST TOYOTA
Position: 5th Time: 1:09.785s Laps: 40 Speed: 115.432mph
"We're having a pretty good day, but I think we could have done better," said Dixon. "We didn't really have what we needed for a strong final run. My team tried a lot of things on the car today, and my only real problem is lots of understeer. We started the day running our own program, and then we tried some stuff Mauricio is using. Don't get me wrong, the car is really performing out there, but I think with a few changes tonight we can be even better tomorrow."
