SCOTT DIXON - # 18 NEXTEL POWERWARE PANASONIC PACWEST TOYOTA
Starting position: 10th Time: 32.330s Speed: 225.933mph
"I was flat out all the way around and, like Mauricio, we trimmed out the car as much as possible before qualifying," said Dixon. "I found the track very clean during my run, but the speeds always go down as the temperature rises. On my run we kind of maxed-out in fifth gear, and when we went to sixth it wasn't much better. I got everything out of the car that I could, so I'm happy with that. It was comfortable to drive, and I'm glad to be starting in the top-ten for the race tomorrow."
MAURICIO GUGELMIN - # 17 NEXTEL PACWEST TOYOTA
Starting position: 15th Time: 32.438s Speed: 225.180mph
"My car was very well balanced, and we trimmed everything out that we could," said Gugelmin. "I was flat out all the way around. We took all the downforce we can take, but it was a pretty boring run. I guess that on superspeedways you can only have fun during the race. My injured hand is not a factor here because there aren't any bumps, so it doesn't bother me at all. Now we just need to make sure we stay on the lead lap tomorrow, because it's a long race. If we gauge our pit strategy correctly, and stay out of trouble, we'll be there at the end."
