PKV RACING'S ORIOL SERVIA ADDED TO 2006 CHAMP CAR TURBO TOUR LINEUP
INDIANAPOLIS (March 9, 2006) -- Fresh off the official confirmation that Oriol Servia has secured a ride with PKV Racing for the 2006 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season, the 2005 Champ Car runner-up was confirmed as part of the 2006 Champ Car Turbo Tour, which kicks off next Sunday in Long Beach.
The six-year veteran will make a number of appearances on the groundbreaking Turbo Tour, which is set to visit nearly every Champ Car race market in North America from March 12-17. The event will feature a number of the stars of the series with Servia joining a lineup that includes 2004 and '05 champion Sebastien Bourdais, 2003 titlewinner Paul Tracy, A.J. Allmendinger, Mario Dominguez, Katherine Legge and Justin Wilson. In addition a number of Champ Car Atlantic drivers will be making appearance along the way including Alan Sciuto.
"For me it's great timing because we announced my ride today and now I will get to go talk to media around the country," Servia said. "It's the first time that anything like this has ever been done and I think it's really good for Champ Car. I think it's great that we can go around the country and get out in front of the fans as well and the media and the sponsors."
Servia posted the best results of his six previous Champ Car seasons in 2005, scoring his first Champ Car win by taking the checkered flag in Montreal and winning the first Bridgestone Pole Award of his career in Surfers Paradise. The former Indy Lights champion finished a career-best second in the championship and was named the winner of the 2005 Greg Moore Legacy Award.
