MOTEGI, Japan (May 13, 2000) - Steady rain forced postponement of Saturday's Firestone Firehawk 500 at Twin Ring Motegi, the fourth event of the 2000 FedEx Championship Series.

The race has been rescheduled for Sunday morning, with the command to start engines at 11:30 a.m. and green flag slated for 11:37 a.m. Additional parade laps may be added as weather conditions warrant.

In gratitude to the fans who braved Saturday's inclement weather, CART conducted a second All-Driver Autograph Session following the announcement of the postponement. The additional session followed Friday's All-Driver Autograph Session, a regular feature of race weekends at every FedEx Championship Series venue.

Della Penna Motorsports rookie Norberto Fontana (Della Penna VideoMatch Toyota Reynard), who was involved in a single-car accident in Friday's practice session, was released Saturday from Dokkyo University Hospital in Mibu-Town, Tochigi after spending the evening for precautionary observation. According to Dr. Chris Pinderski of the CART Medical Team, Fontana, whose CAT Scan of his head and neck were negative, is physically fine, but will have a follow-up evaluation Tuesday in Indianapolis with Dr. Terry Trammell of the CART Medical Team.
