Justin Wilson moves up from fourth place to third at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada, Aug. 26, 2006 -- Justin Wilson (#9 CDW / RuSPORT Ford-Cosworth / Lola / Bridgestone) took third place in final qualifying for the Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal, recording a best lap time of 1:20.587. Wilson and his CDW / RuSPORT team will start tomorrow's race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in the top-three for the seventh time in the 2006 season, and for the second consecutive year in Montreal.
"We made improvements and the car is stronger and faster, so I'm pleased with the progress," said Wilson. "We've got to find a little bit more speed for tomorrow. The weather is the biggest question...there's a good chance of rain tomorrow, and I think that makes everyone in pit lane nervous, because we don't know what's going to happen. We'll just try to stay out of trouble in the race and pick up some more championship points."
"Justin and his entire No. 9 CDW crew really made a great effort, today," said RuSPORT president Jeremy Dale. "It was a great improvement over yesterday, and the team has really come a long way. We didn't quite have the raw speed to contend for the pole position today, but I do think we've got a very solid race car, and tomorrow we should see a very interesting race. Montreal seems to always produce very eventful races. Couple that with the 2006 edition of the Champ Car World Series, and I think the fans are in for a very exciting show, tomorrow."
