Driver Quotes Sebastien Bourdais ...
Sebastien Bourdais #1 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone--
"I guess it was a hell of a day for the championship. This McDonald's team did a mistake-free run, great pit stops. Last year we lost it as a team, and this year we won it as a team. It was going to take exactly the opposite of what we did last year. These boys pulled a magnificent pit stop for the last one. It's all to their credit. It's about as good as it gets. After Denver, it was very important for us to bounce back, and now it's done. I can't say I'm really pleased at the way things went with A.J. because obviously I would have liked better to win it fair and square.
Paul Tracy #3 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone --
"Obviously the guy I'm battling now is Nelson for fourth. This was probably the worst track for me in the last four races. Now going to Elkhart, it's been good to me. Australia, I always run well at. Mexico City, I've won that before. We just have to keep pushing and hopefully we can get a win."
Nelson Philippe #4 CTE Racing --HVM Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone--
"Honestly, I didn't think I had the chance to be on the podium. Coming out of the pits, it was a splash and go. All I saw was the blue Forsythe car. I thought to myself, That's P.T. in second place. Must be pretty good. All I know is they told me you have to run fast, run as fast as you can. That's what I did."
Dan Clarke #14 CTE Racing --HVM Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone--
"Top rookie, top Brit, and another strong race result for us this weekend, so there's lots to cheer about. On the other hand, we seem to be finding all the different ways of missing out on a podium! We were very close to getting a podium this weekend, but I guess if I couldn't have it, at least my team mate got it. We had to fight hard for fourth place today, but it was satisfying to be able to race competitively, having the car and the determination to pass at every opportunity. I'll keep learning from these experiences, using the knowledge positively and continue to fight for more podiums."
Nicky Pastorelli #8 Curacao/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone--
"It was a pretty good result today, finally! The Rocketsports team did a great job on strategy in today's race. We were so close to a top-five finish, but I ran out of Power-to-Pass and Will Power had a little left, so that is how he was able to get around me on the final restart. But we had great pit stops, thanks to my fantastic crew. The #8 Curacao/Rocketsports car was handling well and we were running fast. So in all, it was a good day. This result gives us positive momentum as we head to our next race at Road America, which is also a road course."
Charles Zwolsman #34 Mi-Jack Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone --
"It was a good race up to the point that I came up behind Pastorelli who was on a different strategy. He made a mistake and then coming out of the corner he pinched me a little bit which slowed me down. That didn't put me in a good position for the next corner because I was on the wet line. I went straight off there and lost about four positions. Then in pit lane there were all sorts of things that went on and at the end I cut the chicane and lost the position I had gained. Seeing what was possible today, the result is somewhat disappointing."
Antonio Pizzonia #18 Team Brasil Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone --
"It was a pretty frustrating day for me and the #18 team. When I started the race, I could hear the team, but they could not hear me on the radio. It did not seem like it was going to be a problem as long as I heard them, but then a few laps later, I lost the radio completely. You just can't race at this track without communication with the team. It was hard to know when there was a yellow, but mostly it was hard to know when they were restarting. The team did the best job they could to communicate to me through different means, but it still was very frustrating because I just did not know what was going on out there. I was just driving around waiting for the checkered flag. But it was good to have more seat time in a Champ Car, and I would like to thank Paul Gentilozzi for this opportunity and the team for doing another great job for me this weekend."
Katherine Legge #20 Bell Micro Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone --
"It was tough driving around in somebody else's race. The Bell Micro -- PKV Racing team was just looking to get out of everybody's way and finish the race. That is what we did. When you have nothing to focus on, nothing to push for it is more difficult. The Bell Micro -- PKV Racing crew did a great job all weekend and we picked up a few extra points, so that is good. We will just move on to the next race."
Justin Wilson #9 CDW Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone --
"Obviously, we didn't get the result we were hoping for. The car was quick, we had the right strategy, and the CDW crew had done a great job all weekend. But luck wasn't on our side today. The penalty we received for entering a closed pit made things difficult for us, but we felt we could still make up some of the positions we lost. However, the car got away from me as I was going through the last turn, and I hit the wall. It's disappointing for me, because we were hoping to turn in a good result for the team's guests for CDW Canada, and for Cristiano da Matta and his family, but it wasn't meant to be. So, we'll just take what we can from this weekend and try for a better result at Road America, next month."
Andrew Ranger #27 Tide Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone --
"It wasn't easy, there was only one line so if you wanted to pass, you had to take a risk. (About the spin) I came in and I thought I was okay but I slid a little and had to shortcut the turn, my tires then touched some water and I spun. It took so long for the safety team to get there that I lost a lap. At that point, we changed strategies and I was pushing as much as I could but in the last corner I hit the curb a little too hard and it sent me into the wall. We had a good car so of course I'm not happy with the outcome, it's my home race and I really wanted to do well, especially for the fans that came out today on a Monday."
Oriol Servia #6 Gulfstream Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -
"I was saving fuel and the last two laps I just wanted to improve my track position. I just braked too late going into the last chicane. I went in a little too hard, got a little sideways and went over the curb. The curb was still wet and it sent me straight to the wall. It is really a shame because the Gulfstream -- PKV Racing car was really good today and I lost an opportunity to get a lot of valuable championship points. We were running up toward the front, saving fuel and were in a good position for a top finish. There are still three races left in the season and the Gulfstream -- PKV Racing team has shown that we are contenders for podiums and race wins, so we still have a good chance to move up in the points."
A.J. Allmendinger #7 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -
"It's obviously a very disappointing result. I was just cruising out there, only pushing 80 percent. Boudais was pushing me but he couldn't get around me because there was only one dry line. I was coming out of the hairpin shifting from first to second and something broke. I knew right away that my day was done. It is very disappointing because I know that I had a great car and would have had a great chance for a win."
