Visteon/Patrick Racing's Oriol Servia finishes second at Molson Indy Montreal.
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA - SUNDAY, AUGUST 24, 2003 -- Round #14 - 2003 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season -- Visteon/Patrick Racing driver Oriol Servia tied his CART career best finish with a second place showing today at the Molson Indy Montreal on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Servia, who drives the #20 Visteon/Patrick Racing entry, which is powered by Ford/Cosworth and uses a Lola chassis with Bridgestone tires, started a CART career high second. The 29-year-old native of Spain led several laps and was never lower than fifth in route to the runner-up finish. The second place performance equals his CART career high showing earned earlier this year in Milwaukee. Coincidental he finished behind Michel Jourdain in both races.
Servia was making his second start in a Champ Car in Montreal. In last year's inaugural Molson Indy Montreal, Servia qualified14th and finished 16th.
The resident of Miami, Florida has now scored points in ten of the 14 races this year and has finished in the top-six in eight of his last 11 events. Servia has earned a single season high six top-five finishes including CART career best second place showings at Milwaukee and here at Montreal. Additionally, he has set personal CART career records for consecutive top- six finishes, seven, top-10 showings, seven and points paying performances, eight. Servia has also qualified in the top-10 a CART career high 14 times. He is the only driver to have qualified in the top-10 for every race this year. With today's performance, Servia moved into sixth place in the championship standings with 92 points.
Servia, in his fourth CART season, has earned 31 top-ten finishes including 12 top-five showings with three podium performances in 67 career CART starts. In 24 starts with Visteon/Patrick Racing, Servia has finished in the points 15 times with 12 top-10 finishes, eight top-five showings and two podiums.
Next up for Visteon/Patrick Racing is the Denver Grand Prix, August 29-31 on the temporary street circuit in Denver, Colorado.
