Dominguez Third Despite Late Session Crash, Hunter-Reay Sixth in Provisional Qualifying
Mario Dominguez, #55 Herdez/Lola/ Ford-Cosworth
Mario on qualifying: "I had a good car, but unfortunately I crashed at the start of my second stint, while I was going for pole. I guess I was pushing the envelope a bit too far. We are looking strong, we have a fast car and we were the fastest this morning, so it's been a good day. We still managed to stay third despite losing my fastest lap for causing the red. The guys have a lot of extra work to do tonight because of my crash, but as far as the set-up goes, we are right there, maybe just a few changes and we will go for the pole tomorrow."
Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth
Ryan on qualifying:"I think we started the weekend on the right foot, but I didn't feel we got everything out of the first run. We went out with the Alternate Tire for the second run and I immediately felt a positive read form the car. However, our second run was cut short after two laps due to the red so we don't know for sure how it is going to be. We didn't get everything out of it today but I look forward to giving it another try tomorrow because I am confident we have a good car."
Keith Wiggins, Co-Owner/Managing Director:"It's a bit frustrating because we keep looking like we have a chance at the pole and we don't quite get there. If Mario had not had the accident, which caused the red and shortened the session, I think both cars would have had a good shot at getting further up the charts. We are on that right track for tomorrow."
