DAN CLARKE, #14 CTE Racing HVM/Lola/Ford-Cosworth
First Rookie to Podium: He is a rookie in the Champ Car World Series, but he has been driving like a veteran. While he has had his fair share of bad luck and made a few rookie mistakes along the way, his talent is what continues to shine and he finally got the first podium that he had come so close to capturing during several other races this season, finishing third at Denver two weeks ago. He is the first rookie this season to finish on the podium.
CTE Racing HVM Front Runners: The CTE Racing HVM racing team earned two top-five finishes two weeks ago in Denver. It was the first double top-five by the team since Mario Dominguez and Ryan Hunter-Reay finished third and fifth respectively at the 2004 Lexmark Indy in Australia. The team and its drivers have worked hard to achieve the consistency and challenges for podiums week in and week out, but wining is everyone's goal.
The Rookie Chase: Clark sits second in the rookie of the year chase with four races to go. He is currently ranked 13th in the championship standings, but just 22 points out of the Rookie of the Year lead. With four races to go in the 2006 Championship and fourth through 13th positions being separated by just 25 points, the heat is on.
Dan Clarke on his Inaugural Visit to Denver: "My rookie year of Champ Car racing has been a bit of a roller coaster ride at times, but I've been riding high since leaving Denver, enjoying what I hope is a breakthrough podium finish. And what a high it's been. Probably even more so as I really didn't think it was going to be that weekend I'd be drinking from the champagne bottle. My thoughts are now on Montreal. It's a track I've only known from watching the F1 races, but that makes it a bit more special. I want to get to the top of the rookie standings by the end of the weekend. With only 25 points separating me from fourth place in the overall standing, I hope to claw my way up there as well. We'll be looking to carry the momentum, confidence and positive spirit from Denver into Montreal and looking to have another good result."
