RANGER PUTS WAL-MART CAR IN NINTH PLACE ON THE STARTING GRID WHILE ZWOLSMAN QUALIFIES 11TH
Montreal, Quebec, August 26, 2006 -- The final round of qualifying took place today at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve where the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing drivers, Andrew Ranger and Charles Zwolsman, respectively took the ninth and 11th starting spots. Ranger, who suffered engine problems, fell to ninth from his seventh position recorded yesterday. It is the fifth time he has qualified in the top-ten in his last five races. Charles Zwolsman moved up three positions from his performance in the first round of qualifying to 11th, tying his second best qualifying result this year. The Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal, round 11 of the Champ Car World Series 2006 schedule, gets underway at 1:30 p.m. eastern time tomorrow.
9th - Andrew Ranger #27 Wal-Mart Ford Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"It's a little frustrating because I think we had the car to gain a few more positions on the grid, but I somehow kept losing power with the engine when I was shifting which I'm sure the engineers will sort out before Sunday's race. However, we are again in the top-ten in qualifying which shows that we are able to stay close to the leaders on a more consistent basis. Tomorrow's race should be interesting with the threat of rain, since we haven't raced under wet conditions at all this year, but I'm really looking forward to it because the fan support here has been phenomenal and we want to put together a good show for them."
11th - Charles Zwolsman #34 Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Ford Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"It seemed that the beginning of the session was quicker than the second part of the session. We made a little adjustment to the car for the second part of it but it didn't pan out the way we hoped it would. We actually went quicker on the first set of tires but I was kind of hoping that we could improve on that. I'm half happy that nobody else improved at the end and that I stayed in 11th. Nevertheless I was aiming for a top-ten and we didn't do that. (About the weather forecast for the race) Tomorrow is a long race and lately we have had a real good race car so I hope it stays dry because I have not yet driven in the rain in these cars."
