Walker Racing rookies pleased with initial laps on Monterrey Circuit.

Rodolfo Lavin (R), #5 Corona Competition Team Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone

The Mexican rookie posted his fastest lap of the session on his sixth circuit of the 2.104-mile road course.

"I'm definitely starting to feel better in the car. We've been making a lot of changes to the chassis, to the rear and the front, and at the end the Corona car was much better. The track is getting better and better every time and every lap is better. We're confident in the direction we're taking with the car and think we can improve on this time tomorrow."

Darren Manning, (R), #15 Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone

The young British rookie was an early pole sitter during the first part of qualifying. Manning was sixth when he pitted with six minutes remaining in the session having completed the allowable 15 qualifying laps. His eleventh lap of the session was his fastest.

"It was good. We were sixth when we pitted. We went out early to try to get some clean track and the end of the session looked to be quite fast there with the track being a bit cleaner, everybody was going a lot faster then so we dropped to tenth. We made some big changes to car and it's made it a bit better. The morning practice I think I got one run and the second session about the same. We've got a good direction for the car to go in and we've got a couple of sessions tomorrow to make it go faster."
