Difficult qualifying session for the Forsythe Team
Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico -- May 20th, 2006 -- Last weekend at the Houston Grand Prix the Forsythe team was at the top of the world after Mario Dominguez secured his first career pole position. Unfortunately things didn't go as well today during the qualifying session for the Tecate Grand Prix of Monterrey Presented by Roshfrans. Paul Tracy and Mario Dominguez struggled with the setups of their cars and only managed to secure the 5th and 8th starting positions respectively. During tomorrow's warm up the team will test race setups to make sure the cars are fast and consistent over long runs.
Paul Tracy -- 5th -- #3 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone/Lola
"It's been a frustrating weekend, we can't seem to solve some issues that we have with the car and it's kept us from getting closer to the front. We've been having problems with the brakes, as soon as I try to go deep into the braking zone I lock up and its slowing me down. It's going to be a tough fight tomorrow, this track is very slippery and between that and the heat there's going to be a lot of mistakes out there, if we can have a consistent race without any mistakes and good pit stops I know that we'll be able to finish on the podium and keep adding points to our chase for the Vanderbilt Cup."
Mario Dominguez -- 8th -- #7 Orgullo de Mexico/INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone/Lola
"I wish I could've given all the Mexican fans and my new sponsor Roshfrans a better qualifying result but unfortunately we have not been able to find a good setup for this track. We've made some slight improvements but it hasn't been enough. We are going to work very hard tonight and tomorrow during warm up to make sure we have a good race car. The support from the fans here is amazing, as soon as I got out of the car today there were tons of fans cheering for me up in the stands, I walked across the track and threw my Roshfrans hat and one lucky fan got to keep a really cool souvenir. I know that the Pride of Mexico will be felt tomorrow here at the Tecate Grand Prix of Monterrey Presented by Roshfrans."
The third round of the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford will take place tomorrow at 2pm ET and will be televised live by SPEED.
