Welcome to Mexico Paul! "It was really hot out there - and it got real hot fast into the second session!" said Paul enjoying the cool of the engineers trailer during his post-qualifying debrief.

"I'm not happy with today; we generally need to improve the car ... the track was changing and we didn't keep up [with the changes]. I made a mistake and spun. We will just have to regroup and go again tomorrow."

Patrick Carpentier 7 Indeck Forsythe Racing

"This now qualifying system means you need more luck, and our timing was wrong; with the red flags we just didn't have the luck."

But Patrick was pleased with the track and confident for tomorrow's qualifying, "The track is really nice, a bit slippery at the chicane - and faster than last year I think. The car is good, and we wanted to make some changes for the last session but there was no time to revise ... so today was a learning day. Tomorrow we will be stronger"

Rodolfo Lavin 3 Corona Forsythe Racing
Lola/Ford

"I made a mistake at the first chicane and clipped the curb ... that only left me time for two more good laps, and the [Champ Car] penalty took away my time."

"The track is very slippery - I think a few guys had trouble with that too. Tomorrow is a better day for qualifying for me; after today we make some changes - shock absorbers and maybe a gear, and the car wil be better".
