Tiago Monteiro upbeat as Champ Car heads for Monterrey.

Fittipaldi-Dingman Racing driver Tiago Monteiro is anticipating an improvement on the team's strong initial outing when the Champ Car World Series heads to Monterrey Mexico for this weekend's Tecate/Telmex Grand Prix of Monterrey, round two of the 2003 championship.

"St Petersburg was really a shakedown for the whole team, me included", noted Monteiro. "We only had one day of testing before the weekend", Monteiro said. The talented rookie placed seventh at St Pete, his first Champ Car outing. "Since then, we went to Fontana for a two day test on the road course, which should help a lot in Monterrey." Monteiro conducted the test under the watchful eye of team principal Emerson Fittipaldi.

Emerson expressed satisfaction with his young charge. "In two days, he never put a foot wrong, and he was driving really hard", said the former world and CART champion. "Tiago is talented and motivated. I also continue to thank Eric Bachelart and Mi-Jack Conquest Racing for the assistance they have provided in assembling our team this season. I am pleased with the leadership brought by our team manager Chris Mower", Emerson said. "The test was well organized, productive, and efficient".

Fittipaldi Dingman Racing and its Reynard chassis are based in the Indianapolis shop of Mi-Jack Conquest Racing (MJCR), and shares a technical staff with MJCR.

The race will be live on Eurosport next Sunday at 20h30 (GB) or 21h30 (France, Germany, Spain e.t.c.)
