Tristan Gommendy #22 Pay By Touch-Megaspiera Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 1st)

"We put the black tires, for sure, like everybody in the beginning. We did a quite good lap with black tires. The car wasn't very stable. When my engineer asked me what I want, I said generally more grip, not really more front, more rear. No, it was more general grip. So he said, okay, we will try the red tires. It's going to be normally more grip. We tried it, but the balance of the car changed. For us for the moment, we will try. But for us today the red tires weren't quicker. I think it's the same for everybody because I saw some drivers put the red tires, but I think they didn't improve their lap time. I think it was the same problem for everybody. Anyway, it was a good day for me."

Sebastien Bourdais #1 McDonalds Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 2nd)

"On my part, I made a small mistake on the last lap when I felt like I really -- I really thought people were improving. I had to push a little extra and go for a bigger chunk of lap time and just run wide in turn eight. That did it. As close as it was today, any mistake just cost you the pole. It was a good fight. I wasn't expecting so many guys to be that close. I guess that's how competitive the series is right now. People keep on telling us it's too easy. Well, you have your answer."

Will Power #5 Aussie Vineyards Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 3rd)

"It's really nice to be here at this circuit. To be in the top three again, that's really good. Would have rather been on pole. You know, it's definitely going to get quicker tomorrow because this track rubbers up so much. Might even be a little cooler. Today for us it doesn't really mean much being third because it's either the pole today or nothing. We're going to go back, have a look at the data, get the car a little better, go for it tomorrow. But it's good to be up here with an old sparring partner of mine."

Justin Wilson #9 CDW Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 4th)

"This morning the car was reasonable. The #9 CDW car was only a fraction off, it was like a tenth of a second, but unfortunately that was the difference between P1 and P4. During provisional qualifying, again we were fourth, so we just have to find a little bit more in the car to liven it up. I like the track, we just have to work on our balance a little bit more and try to put the #9 CDW car on the front row tomorrow during the final round of qualifying."

Robert Doornbos #14 Team Minardi USA Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 5th)

"I don't think we deserve to be in fifth place today. We were very competitive and the pole was in our reach, but I was blocked on my last lap, and that was that. We had a fuel issue early on, which cost us some track time, but the crew did a great job getting the issue resolved and we didn't lose out too much. We should be in good shape tomorrow and we'll give it another shot at the pole."

Neel Jani #21 Red Bull-Gulfstream Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 6th)

"On my first set of tires I did my fastest lap in the Red Bull-Gulfstream PKV Racing car. On the second stint I was actually 0.25 seconds up on my first lap, but then I made a little mistake and caught some traffic. I don't think my fast lap even with the 0.25 would have been enough for the pole. Tristan did a great lap, so congratulations to him. The good thing is we know we are fast we just have to find a little more speed for tomorrow."

Alex Tagliani #8 Tide@Walmart Victory Lap Charity Program Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 8th)

"We need to improve the car because we are not happy with an eighth place finish today. We had a little bit of an issue this morning, so we did not get off to a great start. In provisional qualifying the car did not have the balance that I wanted. At least Justin has a decent set-up, and tonight we are going to look at it and see where we can improve. Hopefully we can have better results tomorrow in the #8 Tide@Wal-Mart Victory Lap Charity Program car and get a better qualifying position for the team and our sponsors."

"Speedy" Dan Clarke #4 Team Minardi USA Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 10th)

"It's difficult to know what to say. We're somewhat confused by the problems we've been experiencing here today, but we've just been plugging away at improving the car as much as we can. It's on the limit as far as the current set-up is concerned, so we'll take the car apart this evening and try to work out how to make it quicker. We know from the test here that we can go a lot faster, so that's the goal for tomorrow."

Paul Tracy #3 INDECK Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 11th)

"We just can't seem to find a way to fix the balance of the car, I try to carry speed through the corners but the front just plows and it won't turn. This is a really fast track so you really need to be able to carry the speed through the corners to get a good lap time. I'm also having problems with the brakes, they are very inconsistent you never know what to expect. So overall not a very good day for us, we need to be quicker, we have a lot of work to do, hopefully tomorrow we'll find some speed and get back into the top five."

Jan Heylen #34 Champ Car Grand Prix of Belgium Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 12th)

"Coming into today's session we were at a little bit of a disadvantage to teams who tested here for two days in May. We were able to make up for some of the difference in experience and improved our times between the morning practice and the provisional qualifying run. Twelfth isn't where I ultimately want to be but we'll just have to work on getting the car a little bit better and go back out tomorrow. My goal is to have an even stronger run in tomorrow's final session and qualify in the top ten."

Ryan Dalziel #28 PCM Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 13th)

"We've definitely made gains since the practice session this morning and I think we are off to a reasonable start. It is a shame I had an incident in the warm-up to qualifying. We had planned to do a sticker run at the end of that session to evaluate some changes and that didn't happen due to my incident. The team made a good recovery and they did a good job making the changes in the pits, I think we have a good direction in our minds for tomorrow"

Oriol Servia #7 INDECK Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 14th)

"We just haven't been able to change our momentum here. We had problems in the first practice wit ha radiator that broke so I wanted to do as many laps as possible but I only got to do two runs, then in the ten minutes before qualifying we had a gearbox problems and I couldn't go out at all. What I need is laps around here, I didn't have a chance to test here so it's all new to me. Basically we need to make the cars better and the drivers better too, it's no secret we need to improve on both sides."

Alex Figge #29 PCM/Molecule Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 15th)

"Our result this afternoon was not exactly what we wanted but we are making progress. I think we made some assumptions earlier that weren't right, but in the end we went back to what we know. Were going to have to work hard tonight to find extra speed tomorrow, it is going to be quick out there."
