Champ Car Drivers Visit Milwaukee to Kick off the Race Season
INDIANAPOLIS (March 18, 2005) -- The Milwaukee Mile officially kicks off its 2005 racing season on Saturday night with the "Winners Circle Celebration for Variety®, The Children's Charity of Wisconsin" and Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford drivers Jimmy Vasser and Ryan Hunter-Reay will be in attendance.
The "Winner's Circle Celebration" supports the Variety's® mission to "provide life-saving and life-enriching assistance to children challenged by physical and mental disabilities, poverty, abuse and neglect".
The racing-themed annual fundraiser has invited championship winning drivers from the various racing series that compete on the famous one-mile oval in West Allis, Wisconsin. Vasser and Hunter-Reay are among five drivers that will be participating in the festivities and on hand for one-on-one interviews.
An evening highlighting championship drivers fits Vasser's racing resume honoring his racing career. No stranger to the fans in Milwaukee, the 1996 Champ Car champion has competed on the famed mile for the past 12 years taking a win in 1998.
Hunter-Reay recorded Champ Car history during his 2004 Milwaukee Mile run when he earned his first Champ Car pole that saw him take the green flag to set a new single-event Champ Car record by leading all 250 laps to take his second Champ Car career win.
As the Milwaukee Mile gears up for an exciting season, The Champ Car World Series is ready to get the 2005 season underway in a few weeks. The Milwaukee Mile will see the 750hp Champ Car racing machines lap around the oval on June 4 for the Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225 Presented by U.S. Bank, Round Three of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford.
