CHAMPCAR/CART: Milwaukee: Thursday driver quotes

RYAN HUNTER-REAY (#4 Herdez Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

The previous testing went real well for us, we were able to find a car set-up that worked. The car is good and I think we are on the right track. However, it is only the first day, and I don't want to get ahead of myself. We are in the neighborhood of where we want the car to be and we know where the car needs to be for tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how qualifying goes tomorrow, I think we are in good shape."

PATRICK CARPENTIER (#7 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

I am happy with our time. The car does need some more work. We need to make it more stable and find a tenth or two to catch Ryan. There was some traffic to deal with this evening, but overall the car is good, just needs to be a little better for tomorrow."

PAUL TRACY (#1 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

Things are ok. The car is not behaving as well as we would like it to be. We are a little off from Ryan, so we need to make some improvements. The car is not balanced and we do not have the right set-up as of yet. However, it was a good run and I am feeling comfortable in the car."

ORIOL SERVIA (#11 Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"The Coyne Racing car was okay, but we hoped to be better. The car is not fast, but it is safe. The rear feels good and solid. If we can get the push (understeer) out we will be very good. It has been more difficult to get rid of the push than we though. But, it is better to have push then to be loose."

JIMMY VASSER (#12 Gulfstream Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"Our run was ok. We were trying to save tires more than anything because of everyone doing their five-lap runs for tomorrow. So we ran into a lot of traffic, especially when we were trying to put together our mock qualifying runs."

A.J. ALLMENDINGER (#10 BG Products/Red Bull Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"I was very pleased overall with this session because we made a lot of progress over the first practice. I have a very good direction heading into tomorrow. Driving under the lights is definitely a new experience. The sight picture that you have to learn is a lot different than if there are sunny skies. The promoter and Champ Car have done a great job lighting the track though so there aren't any dark spots you have to fight to see through."

MICHEL JOURDAIN JR. (#9 Gigante Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"We closed the gap, but we still have room for improvement. This race is very long, so the most important thing is to have a consistent car and a good car in traffic. Hopefully, we can continue to make gains and qualify a little closer to the front."

JUSTIN WILSON (#34 Mi-Jack Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"This is my first race on an oval and at night. It is very dark on the track. The Mi-Jack Conquest Racing team is struggling at the moment. The car is quite loose, but we will keep working and with some more practice time I am sure we will get things sorted out."

ALEX SPERAFICO (#14 Mi-Jack Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"We made a lot of changes to the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing car and at the end it was feeling a lot better. Now we have a real car to work with and can start to fine tune it and improve our time. We are definitely headed in the right direction."

ROBERTO GONZALEZ (#21 NII Holdings, Inc. Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"We're still getting adjusted to the oval and learning more and more with every lap we log. We're trying different things to get me more comfortable in the car as well. I'm gaining confidence as we move forward, as the oval configuration is all new to me. It's the first time for me racing at night as well, so things are new. We'll pick it up tomorrow for qualifying."

GASTON MAZZACANE (#19 American Medical Response Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)

"This would not be my first choice of tracks for my first Champ Car race because it is an oval and the race is at night. But, for sure this is a great opportunity for me. I am reborn. I am very happy to have this opportunity with the AMR/Dale Coyne Racing team, but, for sure I need more training (practice). I feel good here (in the Champ Car World Series) the ambience is relaxing. Not like in Europe."
