Vasser fifth fast at Milwaukee.
WEST ALLIS, WISCONSIN . . . A warm and sunny day at the Milwaukee Mile provided Team Rahal drivers Jimmy Vasser and Michel Jourdain Jr. with ample practice time for Sunday's Miller Lite 250 (CBS Noon EST).
Jimmy Vasser piloted the Shell Ford-Cosworth to the fifth fastest time on the day with a lap of 163.745 mph. Vasser split the day working on the race and qualifying set-up.
Jourdain was fifteenth overall with a fast lap of 162.328 mph. The Gigante car was plagued by understeer but was still only two-tenths of a second out of the top-five.
Practice will resume Saturday morning with qualifying for the Miller Lite 250 set for tomorrow afternoon (Speed Channel 2:30 PM EST).

"We are working on both the race and qualifying set-up. Were not extremely happy with either of them but its not bad either. We were limited by the amount of tires that we could run today. I didn't want to run more than one set per session because of the length of the race is now at 250 miles. At that distance you need to have four sets in the pits plus the one that you qualify on which makes five and they only give you seven, so we are in tire conservation mode. All in all we are reasonably pleased. I think we have a top-five car but if we can do a little bit better we can make it a winning car."
Michel Jourdain Jr. (#9 Gigante Ford-Cosworth/Lola on Bridgestone tires) -
"We spent most of today trying to get the balance right. While qualifying is important you really want to work on the race set-up here. Hopefully tomorrow we can improve the balance and go a little bit faster for qualifying and then make some improvements for the race. We tested well here a few weeks ago so we know we have a very good set-up for this track."
