Good Morning from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the first day of practice for Sunday's Miller Lite 225, Round Six of the 2000 FedEx Championship Series season. A bit of a twist is in store to the usual first day CART schedule. From 10:17 a.m. to 10:25 a.m., the film company producing Sylvester Stallone's new movie about the CART circuit, "Champs," will be on Milwaukee Mile with their camera car, filming the CART drivers at speed around the course for action scenes in the movie.

The regular CART schedule picks up with morning's first practice session, scheduled for the Green Flag at 10:30 a.m. and is a split-group session. Each group session will last 45 minutes. The faster drivers from the previous venue's oval qualifying session at Twin Ring Motegi, Japan, will make up Group Two in Friday's sessions. At 2:45 p.m., the FedEx Championship Series teams will again take to the track for the afternoon practice session. The afternoon's practice sessions will be the full-group format with the drivers on track for 90 minutes. Saturday's schedule has the Champ Cars again on track for practice at 9:30 a.m. and again, the teams will be running the split-group format with each Group on track for 45 minutes. The fastest drivers from Friday's combined times will again make up Group Two. Qualifying for Sunday's race is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., lasting until 3 p.m. Sunday's schedule has the traditional 30-minute warm-up beginning at 11 a.m. followed by the Green Flag for the Miller Lite 225 at 3 p.m. (All times are local, Central Standard Time.)

Friday's weather here at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this morning has a thick layer of clouds left over from last night's violent weather that blew through the state. But a cool wind is blowing from the west, promising the arrival of a high-pressure system that will move the weather east in a hurry! Cool spring-like temperatures should prevail for the rest of the weekend, and hopefully bring an end to the rains.
