FORSYTHE TEAMMATES PAUL TRACY AND MARIO DOMINGUEZ SET TO START ON THIRD AND FIFTH ROWS AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE
MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin - June 3, 2005 - Forsythe Championship Racing teammates Paul Tracy (#3 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) and Mario Dominguez (#7 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) overcame handling issues during today's Qualifying Session to achieve good starting spots for Saturday's Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225 Presented by US Bank at the historic Milwaukee Mile.
Tracy qualified on the third row for the race as he set the fifth quickest time of the session with a lap of 21.268 seconds, averaging 174.685mph/281.128kph around the unique flat corners of the oldest race track in America.
"We had a little too much understeer and I had to back out of it in the middle of the turns" commented Tracy. "That really hurts the lap times here since the corners are so long. But we had a really fast car in practice this morning on worn tires and heavy with fuel, so I think we're going to be strong in the race."
Dominguez had a more challenging day as the Forsythe Team had to take the car back to the paddock during the morning practice session to try and find a problem with the car's handling that wasn't responding to setup changes. They brought the car back out with just a few minutes left in the practice session, but didn't have time to fine tune the handling. Dominguez managed to post a good lap in Qualifying (21.632 seconds, 171.746mph/276.398kph) and will start from outside the fifth row in 10th.
"We're having some problems" said Dominguez. "We were so fast here in testing a few weeks ago so it's really surprising how much we're fighting the car here today. We missed a lot of practice time this morning and are behind everyone else in finding our setup, but hopefully we'll find some consistency in the Warmup tomorrow and be good for the race. Ovals are always a bit unpredictable so anything can happen."
The Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225 Presented by US Bank gets underway Saturday, June 4th at Noon local/CT ( 1pm ET, 17:00 UTC) and will be broadcast LIVE on CBS in the USA and worldwide on the Internet via the Champ Car website (ChampCarWorldSeries.com).
