Rodolfo Lavin (R), #5 Corona Competition Team Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone
"The Corona car is good again today, but I don't know what's wrong with my luck. Again, the same thing today, I was minus on my lap of 68.4 (seconds) when the red flag came out and ended the session early. I think we could have gotten into the 67 second range. Besides that, I think the Corona Walker Racing crew and I have been making a lot of progress on the set-up. Tomorrow with consistent lap times and quick stops from my crew, hopefully, we will be able to pick up some points from the race."
Will mark his 13th Champ Car start, Will mark his first Champ Car start at Mid-Ohio, Has one previous start at Mid-Ohio contesting Indy Lights in 2000
Darren Manning, (R), #15 RAC Walker Racing Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone
"The balance of the RAC Walker Racing car is really good, but the level of grip is way down. If I was on pole, I'd be happy and wouldn't change anything. Even though the balance is there, we're still off the pace, so something is amiss. We've got to have a bit of a think about it. Hunter-Reay (a fellow Reynard competitor) has been able to make his way through the field, so we should be able to do it as well."
Will be his 14th Champ Car start and 13th with Walker Racing in 2003, Has collected five consecutive top-ten finishes dating back to the Portland event (22 June), Has eleven top-ten finishes total, Currently ranked eighth overall in the championship with 68 points, Stands second in the Rookie of the Year battle
Derrick Walker, team owner, Walker Racing and owner, Reynard
"I want to congratulate Ryan Hunter-Reay and American Spirit Team Johansson for their impressive second place qualifying effort for Sunday's Champ Car Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio. They've done a great job getting their Reynard up to speed at the challenging Mid-Ohio road course. It gives the rest of the Reynard customers hope that the Reynard can be reasonably competitive this weekend."
