SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS, #2 Lilly Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone: "It was a tough race. I was a bit dry because the water bottle in my car didn't work but the team did a good job to get me water during the pit stops. We started third but the race has not been a big success for us. We set the second fastest lap of the race but I couldn't pass because I had too much understeer. The car was good at the start but then it started to push more, more, more. At the start the steering wheel was very heavy but we had no grip. It didn't improve much after that. It was just an okay race for us but it is good to get points for a fifth place finish."
NOTES: Was his first race here...He earned four poles (3-road course; 1-oval) and three wins in 12 events so far. (He started in second place in England and fifth in Long Beach.) Has won a total of six bonus points this season (Friday & Saturday in St. Pete; Saturday in Monterrey, Saturday and Sunday in Germany; Friday in Cleveland)...He is currently ranked 4th in the point standings with 126 points.
BRUNO JUNQUEIRA, #1 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone:
"Servia just hit me. He wasn't even side by side and then he hit my rear tire. It is very frustrating and it was also too early in the race for him to try that. We had to replace the front wing and were two laps behind when we returned to the track. We were just hoping to salvage some points from other cars dropping out but we didn't get any. It is a long championship but unfortunately the 23 points I gained last week, I lost this week. It's too bad our top-five streak ended this way. I didn't have the best car today but I wanted to finish with some points. The PacifiCare team will regroup and come back stronger in Montreal. Newman/Haas was on pole there last year and I started third so we hope to be very competitive and make up some points."
It was his third race here... Started sixth and finished fourth in 2002. Started 10th and finished 13th in rookie season in 2001...Prior to today's race he had finished in the top-five in the previous 10 road/street course races so far this season including EIGHT podiums and had only finished out of the top-five once (Milwaukee)...He lost the championship lead to Paul Tracy and is 20 points behind (184-164) with six races remaining.
TEAM NOTES: In total the team has won THREE races (Mi. Andretti 1990-1991, Ma. Andretti 1984), SIX poles (Mansell 1993, Mi. Andretti 1990-1992, Ma. Andretti 1986, 1984) and 11 podiums here (2nd Fittipaldi 2002, Tracy 1995, Ma. Andretti 1990, 1988, 1983; 3rd Fittipaldi 2000, Mi. Andretti 1996, 1989).
