Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. after having a hard day took the 27th spot in the Friday's combined practice report for the Michigan 500 Presented by Toyota.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "Unfortunately, we had problems with a tire and the engine and we could not complete too many laps. The team did a good job changing really quick engines between practices. During the last session we were able to work on the setting for the car, trying to use as lees downforce as possible."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "We unfortunately had a puncture right rear tire causing Michel (Jourdain Jr.) spinning at Turn 2. This caused unseen engine damage, which resulted in a blown engine. The Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports Team did a magnificent job, changing engines between sessions and finally, we had a productive afternoon session preparing for the race."
